What is fukuiraptor?

Fukuiraptor is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived during the Early Cretaceous period, around 125 million years ago. It was a carnivorous dinosaur that belonged to the group known as the Megaraptora, which were small to medium-sized predatory dinosaurs with elongated arms and sharp claws.

Fukuiraptor was discovered in Japan in 2000 and was named after the Fukui Prefecture where it was found. The type species is Fukuiraptor kitadaniensis, and it is known from a nearly complete skeleton that includes skull, vertebrae, ribs, hips, and limb bones.

This dinosaur would have been around 9 to 14 feet long and weighed around 440 to 880 pounds. It had a long and slender body with powerful hind limbs and clawed forelimbs. Fukuiraptor likely used its sharp claws to capture and kill prey, possibly relying on speed and agility to hunt.
