What is funitel?

A funitel is a type of cable car system that combines elements of both a gondola lift and a chairlift. It is typically used to transport skiers and snowboarders up steep and mountainous terrain in ski resorts.

The name "funitel" is a portmanteau of "funicular" and "telepherique," which are two other types of cable car systems. Funitels are known for their high capacity and ability to transport large numbers of passengers quickly and efficiently.

Unlike traditional gondola lifts, funitels have cabins that are fixed to the cable and do not detach during the ride. This allows for smoother and more stable transportation, even in windy conditions.

Funitels are commonly used in ski resorts in the Alps, as well as in other mountainous regions around the world. They are popular among skiers and snowboarders for their speed, capacity, and reliability.
