What is gee-haw?

Gee-haw is a command used when driving a team of horses or mules to turn them either to the right (gee) or to the left (haw). It is a traditional way of verbal communication and direction for animal-powered transportation, commonly used in agriculture and transportation industries. The origin of the term is not clear, but it has been used for centuries in English-speaking countries. In modern times, gee-haw commands may also be used in dog sled racing and other animal-powered sports.
