What is grishneswar?

Grishneshwar is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Ellora, Maharashtra, India. The temple is also referred to as the Grushmeshwara Jyotirlinga and is believed to be one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in existence. The temple was built by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century.

However, Sudeha was jealous of her co-wife who had a son while she was barren. In a fit of rage, Sudeha killed her co-wife's son and threw his body in a nearby pond. Sudharm and his co-wife prayed to Lord Shiva, who appeared and performed a miracle, bringing their son back to life. The temple is believed to have been built on the spot where this miracle took place.
