What is h-back?

An H-back is a versatile football position that combines elements of a fullback, tight end, and wide receiver. The H-back lines up in the backfield, next to the quarterback, but can also shift around the field to create mismatches with the defense.

The H-back is often used in West Coast offense and other passing schemes to create mismatches against linebackers in coverage. They are expected to be able to block, catch passes, and run the ball in certain situations.

Notable NFL players who have played the H-back position include Aaron Hernandez, Chris Cooley, and Kyle Juszczyk. The position requires a unique set of skills and versatility, making it a valuable asset to any team's offensive game plan.
