What is habaniyah?

Habbaniyah is a town located in the Al-Anbar Governorate in Iraq. It is situated on the Euphrates River, approximately 80 kilometers west of Baghdad. The town is known for its military airbase, originally built by the British in the 1930s and later used by the Iraqi Air Force.

During the Iraq War, Habbaniyah airbase was used by the United States military as a training facility for Iraqi security forces. The town also served as a significant location for the US military's operations against insurgents in the region.

Habbaniyah is also home to a large refugee camp, housing displaced families who have fled violence and instability in other parts of Iraq. The town has seen its fair share of conflict and has struggled with security issues in the past.

In recent years, efforts have been made to stabilize the region and promote development in Habbaniyah and surrounding areas. The town's economy relies on agriculture, fishing, and some tourism due to its proximity to the Euphrates River.
