What is halabard?

Halberd is a type of polearm weapon that was used extensively during medieval times. It is essentially a combination of an axe and a spear, featuring a long shaft or pole that has a blade at one end and a spike or hook at the other.

The halberd was widely used throughout Europe during the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, particularly by infantry soldiers. It was considered to be a versatile weapon that could be used for both stabbing and chopping attack, as well as for disarming an opponent.

Halberd users were typically heavily armored soldiers who would stand in the front lines or in defensive positions, using the weapon to fend off enemy cavalry or infantry attacks. In addition, halberds were also used as ceremonial weapons, particularly by guardsmen.

Today, the halberd is mostly used in modern-day reenactments and historical demonstrations, although some military and police forces still use similar polearm weapons in certain situations.
