What is hambucker?

A humbucker is a type of electronic pickup used in electric guitars and bass guitars. It is designed to reduce hum (hence the name) and unwanted electromagnetic interference (EMI) that can be produced by electronic devices such as fluorescent lighting and electronic equipment.

A humbucker consists of two coils of wire wound in opposite directions and wired in series or parallel. The coils are placed close together and surrounded by a magnetic field created by a pair of magnetic pole pieces. When the strings of the guitar are plucked, they create a magnetic field that interacts with the magnetic field of the pickups, and the resulting signal is sent to an amplifier.

Humbuckers are known for producing a warm, fat, and full-bodied sound that is preferred by many guitarists. They are typically used in rock, blues, and heavy metal music, as they can produce a powerful and distortion-free sound, even at high volumes.
