What is highsiding?

Highsiding is a motorcycle term used to describe a type of accident that occurs when the rear wheel loses traction and then suddenly regains it, causing the rider to be thrown off the motorcycle. This can happen when a rider is accelerating too hard or if the tires lose grip due to a sudden change in road conditions.

The term "highsiding" comes from the fact that the rider is thrown off the motorcycle and over the top of it, making it a much more dangerous type of accident than a lowside crash (where the rider slides out to the side of the bike). Highsiding can result in serious injuries to the rider, including broken bones, head trauma, and spinal cord injuries.

To prevent a highsiding accident, riders should avoid sudden acceleration or braking, maintain proper tire pressure and tread depth, and be aware of road conditions. It's also important for riders to wear protective gear, including helmets, jackets, and gloves, to minimize the risk of injury in the event of an accident.
