What is hsc-21?

HSC-21 (Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 21) is a United States Navy helicopter squadron based at Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego, California. The squadron operates MH-60S Seahawk helicopters and is responsible for the search and rescue (SAR) mission as well as providing support to special operations forces and surface ships. HSC-21 was originally commissioned as Helicopter Antisubmarine (Light) Squadron THREE (HSL-3) in 1987, before transitioning to its current role in 2007. The squadron has been involved in various operations, including Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.
