What is hybernoma?

Hibernoma is a rare type of soft tissue tumor that originates from brown adipose tissue or fat cells. These tumors are benign in nature, which means that they do not spread to other tissues or organs of the body. Hibernomas are typically found in the trunk, neck, and thigh regions of adult individuals. They may also occur in children, but this is very rare. Symptoms of hibernoma may include pain, swelling, and discomfort in the affected area. The exact cause of hibernoma is not known, but it is believed to be related to genetic mutations or abnormalities in the regulatory mechanisms that control fat cell growth and differentiation. Hibernoma is usually treated using surgery to remove the tumor, which is usually curative. In rare cases, radiation therapy or chemotherapy may be used to treat hibernoma.
