What is hydrocyclone?

A hydrocyclone is a device used for separating and classifying solids from liquids or for dewatering slurries. It is commonly used in industries such as mining, oil and gas, wastewater treatment, and agriculture.

The hydrocyclone works by creating a vortex flow of the liquid mixture inside a cylindrical chamber. This vortex causes the heavier particles to be thrown outward towards the walls of the chamber, while the lighter particles are carried to the center and are eventually discharged through an overflow outlet.

Hydrocyclones are efficient in separating particles based on their size and density, with larger and denser particles being separated more effectively. They are also capable of handling a wide range of flow rates and can be easily adjusted to achieve the desired separation efficiency.

One of the main advantages of hydrocyclones is their compact size and low maintenance requirements compared to other separation equipment. They are also relatively simple to operate and provide a cost-effective solution for separating solids from liquids.
