IATA (International Air Transport Association) is a trade association for the world's airlines, representing around 290 airlines and accounting for 82% of total air traffic. IATA manages the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) program, which is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. The IOSA program is mandatory for IATA member airlines. IATAN (International Airlines Travel Agent Network) is a department within IATA that provides travel professionals with accreditation for access to IATA products and services, such as the sale of airline tickets. IATAN accreditation is a mark of professionalism and reliability for travel agencies, and is recognized around the world by airlines, hotels and other travel industry suppliers.
