What is ibmxiv?

IBM XIV is a high-end storage system that was produced by IBM. It was designed to provide high-performance, scalable storage for enterprises with large data storage needs.

The IBM XIV system featured a grid architecture, which allowed for easy scaling and increased performance as more storage units were added to the system. It also included advanced features such as data deduplication, thin provisioning, and snapshot capabilities.

The XIV system was designed to be easy to use and maintain, with automated management features that reduced the need for manual intervention. It also offered high availability and reliability, with redundant components and the ability to perform online upgrades and maintenance.

In 2013, IBM announced that it would discontinue the XIV product line, with support for existing customers ending in 2022. IBM has since focused on developing other storage solutions, such as its Storwize and FlashSystem products.
