What is illagan?

Illagan (officially known as the City of Ilagan) is a first-class city located in the province of Isabela, Philippines. It is often referred to as the "Corn Capital of the Philippines" due to its abundant supply of corn.

The city has a land area of around 1,166 square kilometers and is home to over 145,000 people as of the 2020 census. It is considered the largest city in the Cagayan Valley region.

Illagan is known for its natural wonders such as the Ilagan Sanctuary, which is a protected forest reserve that houses rare flora and fauna. It also has several waterfalls such as the Digoyo, Balanac, and Fuyot.

The city's economy is primarily driven by agriculture, with corn, rice, and vegetables being the top crops. It also has a growing tourism industry, with visitors coming to see its natural attractions and participate in cultural activities such as the Bambanti Festival, held annually in January.

Illagan is also home to several educational institutions, including Isabela State University, Ilagan Computer Institute, and Saint Ferdinand College.

The city is accessible via air travel through the Cauayan Airport, which is located around 30 kilometers away. It is also connected to major cities in Luzon through several highways.
