What is ilomedin?

Iloprost, sold under the brand name Ilomedin, is a medication used to treat a variety of circulatory disorders, including Raynaud's phenomenon, scleroderma, and pulmonary hypertension. It is a prostacyclin analogue that helps to widen blood vessels and improve blood flow, leading to increased oxygenation and reduced inflammation. Ilomedin is typically administered intravenously via a catheter or infusion pump in a clinical setting. The most common side effects of Ilomedin include flushing, headache, nausea, and dizziness. In rare cases, it may cause severe allergic reactions, respiratory distress, or cardiac arrhythmias. Ilomedin is contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment, uncontrolled hypertension, or a history of bleeding disorders. It should also not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
