What is incandescent?

Incandescent refers to a lighting technology where an electric current passes through a filament, which then produces light as it heats up. This was the first commercially successful form of electric lighting, and was widely used for many decades. However, incandescent bulbs are highly inefficient, as much of the energy used is converted into heat rather than light. They are also relatively fragile and have a shorter lifespan compared to other types of lighting, such as LED and fluorescent bulbs. Due to these drawbacks and increasing concerns about energy conservation, incandescent bulbs are gradually being phased out in many countries in favor of more energy-efficient alternatives.
