What is ipda?

IPDA stands for the International Public Debate Association. It is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports the development of debate as an educational activity. The IPDA was established in 1997 and has since grown to include over 100 member institutions across the world.

The IPDA offers a debate format that emphasizes public speaking, critical thinking, and persuasive argumentation. The debates are designed to be accessible to a wide range of students, regardless of their previous experience with debate.

In an IPDA debate, each team has three or four speakers who take turns presenting arguments and responding to the arguments of the other team. The debate is judged by a panel of judges, who evaluate the quality of the arguments, the speaking skills of the debaters, and the overall effectiveness of the debate.

The IPDA also hosts tournaments and workshops throughout the year, providing opportunities for debaters to compete and learn from one another. The organization encourages its members to engage in community service and civic engagement, using debate as a tool for promoting positive change in the world.
