Iridectomy is a surgical procedure in which a part of the iris (the colored part of the eye) is removed. This procedure may be done for medical reasons, such as to treat glaucoma, or for cosmetic reasons, such as to change the appearance of the eye. The procedure is typically performed by an ophthalmologist, and can be done using lasers or traditional surgical techniques. After the procedure, patients may experience some blurriness or sensitivity to light, but these symptoms usually subside within a few days. Over time, the remaining iris tissue may grow to fill in the area where the iridectomy was performed.
