What is jaguarandi?

Jaguarandi (Herpailurus jaguarondi) is a small wild cat species found in South and Central America. It is also known as the eyra cat, and its fur is typically reddish-brown, grayish-brown, or black in color.

Jaguarandis are about the size of a domestic cat, but they have a long and slender body with short legs. They are tree-dwelling cats and are known for their ability to climb trees with ease. They are mostly active during the day but are also active at night.

Jaguarandis primarily feed on small mammals, birds, and reptiles, but they are also known to eat fish and insects. They are solitary animals and are difficult to spot in the wild due to their elusive nature.

There is not much information available on jaguarandis' population size due to their elusive nature, but they are currently listed as a species of "Least Concern" by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). However, they are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, and their populations have declined in some regions.
