Javier Camarena is a Mexican tenor born on March 26, 1976, in Xalapa, Veracruz. He began studying music at a young age and went on to attend the University of Guanajuato to study voice. Camarena made his professional operatic debut in 2004, and since then, he has performed at some of the most prestigious opera houses in the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House in London, and Teatro alla Scala.
Camarena is known for his powerful and flexible voice, particularly in the bel canto repertoire. He has won numerous awards throughout his career, including the Plácido Domingo Award from the Operalia Competition in 2004, the Rossini d'Oro Award in 2014, and the Franco Corelli International Award in 2018. Camarena is also committed to promoting the arts in his home country of Mexico and is a frequent performer at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City.
