What is jonquil?

Jonquil is a perennial plant that belongs to the genus Narcissus and is native to the Mediterranean region. It is a member of the Amaryllidaceae family and is closely related to daffodils and snowdrops. Jonquil flowers are usually yellow, although there are some varieties that have white or orange petals, and they have a sweet, spicy fragrance. The plants typically bloom in the spring and can reach heights of up to 18 inches. They prefer well-draining soil that is kept moist but not too wet, and they thrive in full to partial sunlight. Jonquils are commonly grown for their ornamental value and are often used in cut flower arrangements. They are also used in traditional medicine for their anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
