What is keys?

Keys are small, metal objects typically used to gain access to locks. They are designed to fit and rotate within the specific lock mechanism they are designed for. Generally, keys are used to secure buildings, vehicles, safes, and other types of property. Most keys are made from brass or nickel silver, but may have a plastic or rubber handle attached for comfort and easier identification. Some keys have teeth or ridges along their blades that interact with pins within the lock to open it. Today, many keys have electronic chips embedded within them that act as a code to unlock certain systems or devices.
