What is kinetic?

Kinetic refers to energy associated with motion. It is a type of energy that is possessed by moving objects. Kinetic energy is directly proportional to the mass of the object and the square of its velocity. The formula for kinetic energy is KE= 1/2mv^2, where m is the mass of the object and v is its velocity.

Examples of kinetic energy include the movement of a car, a ball in motion, a wind turbine, and a person walking. Kinetic energy can be transformed into other forms of energy, such as potential energy, thermal energy, or electrical energy. Conservation of energy principles dictate that energy may be transformed from one form to another or transferred from one object to another, but the total amount of energy in a system remains constant.
