What is kuda?

Kuda is a Malay word meaning "horse" and is used to refer to a breed of pony native to Indonesia, particularly in the island of Java. Kuda is known for its agility, endurance, and strength, which makes it suitable for various activities like horse racing, polo, and leisure riding.

The Kuda breed is typically small, standing around 12 to 13 hands high (48 to 52 inches or 122 to 132 cm), and is generally hardy and easy to care for. Its coat comes in a variety of colors, ranging from bay, black, chestnut, and gray to sorrel and palomino.

Kuda ponies are highly valued in local culture and are often raised for leisure riding or in pony clubs. They are also used in traditional ceremonies and for transportation in rural areas. The breed is facing some challenges such as loss of habitat and low demand, leading to a decline in its population in recent years. Efforts are being made to conserve and promote the breed locally and abroad.
