What is kyenjojo?

Kyenjojo is a district located in western Uganda, specifically in the region of Toro Kingdom. Its administrative center is the town of Kyenjojo, which is located approximately 220 kilometers from Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. The district has a population of over 300,000 people, according to the 2014 national census, and covers an area of approximately 1,228 square kilometers.

Kyenjojo is predominantly an agricultural district, with about 80% of the population engaged in farming. The district is known for its production of various food crops such as coffee, maize, bananas, beans, and vegetables. Livestock farming is also common, with cattle, goats, and pigs being reared in large numbers.

The district has several notable attractions, including the Kibale Forest National Park, which is home to a variety of wildlife species such as elephants, chimpanzees, and monkeys, among others. Other attractions include the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, the Crater Lakes, and the Amabere Caves.

Kyenjojo is also home to several institutions of higher learning, including Kyenjojo Teachers' College and a campus of Mountains of the Moon University. The district is served by a network of roads connecting it to other parts of Uganda, and it is also a major transit point for travelers heading to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
