What is lcp?

LCP (Link Control Protocol) is a protocol used in PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) connections to establish, configure, and test data-link layer communications. It is responsible for negotiating parameters such as authentication protocols, compression, and IP address assignment. LCP can also detect and report on errors that occur during the negotiation process. The protocol uses messages to manage the link between two devices and ensures that they can communicate effectively. LCP is an essential part of PPP, and without it, a connection cannot be established between two devices.
