What is leptosiphon?

Leptosiphon is a genus of flowering plants in the family Polemoniaceae, native to western North America. They are annual or perennial herbs that produce colorful, funnel-shaped flowers in clusters on slender stems. The flowers are typically pink, purple, blue, or white and have five fused petals that form a tube. The leaves are small and linear or thread-like. Leptosiphon plants prefer full sun and well-drained soil and are commonly found in rocky or sandy areas, chaparral, grasslands, and forests. Many species of Leptosiphon are cultivated as ornamental plants in gardens and containers as they are low maintenance and attractive to bees and butterflies. Some popular species include Leptosiphon androsaceus, Leptosiphon grandiflorus, and Leptosiphon luteus.
