What is malleolar?

Malleolar refers to the ankle bone, specifically the lateral malleolus and the medial malleolus. The lateral malleolus is a bony projection located on the outside of the ankle, while the medial malleolus is located on the inside of the ankle. These bones help to stabilize the ankle joint and provide attachment sites for various muscles and ligaments. Injuries to the malleolar region are common, including sprains and fractures, and can result in significant pain, swelling, and mobility limitations. Treatment may include rest, ice, compression, and elevation, and in some cases, surgery may be needed to repair a severe injury.
