What is maloik?

Maloik is an Italian gesture commonly used to ward off bad luck or the evil eye. The gesture involves extending the index and little fingers, while tucking the middle and ring fingers into the palm. It is believed to have originated from the ancient Greek belief in the power of the number five, as the five fingers represent strength and protection against negative forces. The gesture is often accompanied by the phrase "Malocchio non entra" (bad luck doesn't enter) or "Tengo culo" (I have good luck). The maloik gesture is still commonly used in Italy today, particularly in the southern regions, and has become a popular symbol in Italian-American culture.
