Mamula is a small uninhabited island located in the Adriatic Sea near the entrance of the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. It is home to a historic fortress that was built by Austro-Hungarian forces in the 19th century. The fortress was used as a military prison during World War II when it was under Italian and then German occupation. Mamula is now preserved as a cultural heritage site and is open to tourists who visit the island to explore and learn about its history. The island is also a popular spot for swimming and sunbathing thanks to its crystal-clear waters and stunning landscapes.
