What is meader?

Mead, or mead wine, is an alcoholic beverage created by fermenting honey with water, and sometimes with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops. It is considered to be one of the oldest alcoholic drinks in the world, with evidence of its consumption dating back to ancient times.

Mead can range from being dry and crisp to sweet and syrupy, and can have flavors and aromas that range from fruity and floral to spicy or herbal. It can be aged like wine, and some meads have higher alcohol content than traditional beer or wine.

Mead is often associated with medieval times and is sometimes referred to as "honey wine," but it has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years. It is now commonly found at wine and beer shops, meaderies, and brewpubs. It can also be brewed at home using home-brewing equipment and kits.
