What is mirns?

miRNAs (microRNAs) are short strands of RNA molecules that play a critical role in regulating gene expression and thus have diverse functions in various biological processes like development, cell differentiation, and disease. They are usually 18-24 nucleotides in length and function primarily by binding to complementary sequences in messenger RNA molecules, leading to translational repression or mRNA degradation. miRNAs are found in almost all eukaryotic organisms, from plants to animals, and have been implicated in various diseases like cancer, cardiovascular disease, and neurological disorders. miRNA research is an active field with ongoing efforts aimed at identifying new miRNAs, their targets, and their roles in various physiological and pathological processes.
