What is mogalana?

Mogalana, also known as Maudgalyayana, was one of the ten chief disciples of Buddha. He was known for his magical powers, which he used to support the Buddha in his teachings and to help others. Mogalana was a close friend and companion to Sariputta, another chief disciple of the Buddha.

Mogalana is particularly known for his deep understanding of the abhidharma, which is the Buddhist study of the nature of reality. He was said to be able to memorize and understand vast amounts of information, as well as being able to recite his teachings with incredible accuracy.

Despite his abilities, Mogalana reportedly struggled to attain enlightenment. He spent many years working with various meditation techniques, seeking to overcome his own ego and reach a state of enlightenment. Eventually, he was able to achieve this goal, becoming one of the foremost teachers within the Buddhist community.

Today, Mogalana remains an important figure within the Buddhist tradition. His teachings are still studied and revered by millions of people around the world, and his example continues to inspire others to seek spiritual growth and understanding.
