What is multiparity?

Multiparity is a term used in obstetrics to describe a woman who has given birth two or more times. It is often associated with higher risks of complications during subsequent pregnancies, including preterm birth, fetal growth restriction, placental abnormalities, and cesarean delivery. However, with appropriate prenatal care and management, most multiparous women can have successful pregnancies and outcomes. Health care providers typically assess a woman's obstetric history, including her parity, when planning her care and monitoring her pregnancy.
