What is mwm?

MWM (Map With Me)

MWM, formerly known as MapsWithMe, is an offline mobile map application for Android and iOS. It uses crowd-sourced data from OpenStreetMap (OSM) to provide users with detailed maps, navigation, and travel guides that are accessible even without an internet connection.

Key features and aspects of MWM include:

  • Offline Maps: The primary function. Users can download maps of specific regions or countries for offline use. This allows navigation and access to map data even when a data connection is unavailable.

  • Detailed Maps: Maps include points of interest (POIs) such as restaurants, hotels, tourist attractions, ATMs, and other essential services. The level of detail is reliant on the completeness of the OpenStreetMap data for a given area.

  • Navigation: Offers turn-by-turn navigation for driving, cycling, and walking. It can also provide routing suggestions based on user preferences.

  • Search Functionality: Users can search for specific locations, addresses, or businesses within the downloaded maps.

  • Travel Guides: Integrates travel guides with descriptions and information for various destinations, often sourced from Wikipedia or other travel content providers.

  • User Contributions: Since MWM uses OpenStreetMap data, users can contribute to improving the maps by adding new information, correcting errors, or updating existing data. These edits will eventually be reflected in the app after synchronization with the OSM database.

  • Bookmarks/Saved Places: Allows users to save frequently visited locations or places of interest for quick access.

  • Integration: It can integrate with other travel and booking platforms.
