What is nakapiripirit?

Nakapiripirit is a town located in the northeastern part of Uganda, in the Karamoja subregion. It is the largest town in the Napak District, and it is situated approximately 72 kilometers east of Moroto, which is the largest town in the region. The population of Nakapiripirit was estimated at 16,000 in 2011.

The town is predominantly inhabited by the Karimojong people, who are known for their traditional pastoralism and cattle herding. The economy of the town is primarily focused on agriculture, with maize, beans, and cassava being the most commonly grown crops. The town is also known for its handicrafts, including beaded jewelry and woven baskets.

Nakapiripirit is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges and national parks, such as the Kidepo Valley National Park, which offers visitors the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, and giraffes. The town also boasts several cultural sites, including traditional Manyatta (homesteads) and rock art sites.
