What is namrud?

Namrud or Nimrod is an ancient figure in the Old Testament of the Bible. He was a powerful king who lived around 2000 BC in Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq). According to the Bible, he built cities such as Nineveh, Calah, and Resen, and was a skilled hunter.

However, he was also known for his arrogance and rebellion against God. The Tower of Babel, which was built in defiance of God's command to scatter and populate the earth, is sometimes attributed to Nimrod.

The name Nimrod has also been used in a negative context to describe someone who is a tyrant or oppressor. However, some modern scholars believe that Nimrod was actually a heroic figure in ancient Mesopotamian mythology, and that his negative portrayal in the Bible was due to the animosity between the Israelites and their Mesopotamian neighbors.
