What is nxivm?

NXIVM was a multi-level marketing company that was founded in 1998 by Keith Raniere and Nancy Salzman. It billed itself as a personal and professional development organization, offering self-help workshops and seminars to help individuals achieve personal growth and success.

However, in recent years NXIVM has come under scrutiny and legal troubles for allegations of being a cult and engaging in illegal activities. In 2017, several former members accused the organization of abusive practices, manipulation, and sexual exploitation.

In March 2018, Raniere was arrested in Mexico on charges of sex trafficking and forced labor conspiracy. Several other high-ranking members of NXIVM, including Smallville actress Allison Mack, were also indicted on various charges related to the organization.

In June 2019, Raniere was found guilty on all charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and forced labor conspiracy. He was sentenced to 120 years in prison. NXIVM has since been disbanded and is no longer in operation.
