What is o-sensei?

O-Sensei, whose full name was Morihei Ueshiba, was the founder of the Japanese martial art, Aikido. Born on December 14, 1883, in Tanabe, Wakayama Prefecture Japan, he began studying martial arts in his youth, primarily Jujitsu and Kendo.

After years of intense training and spiritual study, O-Sensei developed Aikido, a martial art based on the principle of harmony and non-violence. He believed that Aikido was not just a means of self-defense but was also a path to personal growth and spiritual development.

Throughout his life, O-Sensei taught Aikido to many students, both in Japan and around the world, including famous martial artists such as Steven Seagal. Today, Aikido is practiced by millions of people worldwide.

O-Sensei passed away on April 26, 1969, in Iwama, Japan, at the age of 86. However, his legacy and teachings continue to inspire and influence martial artists all over the world.
