What is oligarchi?

Oligarchy is a form of government in which a small group of people, usually wealthy and influential, control the government and hold power over the population. This system of governance generally operates with a predetermined set of rules and regulations, which are often designed to benefit the ruling elite rather than the general population.

In ancient Greece, oligarchies were prevalent in many city-states, including Sparta and Corinth. In these city-states, the wealthy landowners or aristocrats held power and made decisions about the government. Over time, oligarchy has been seen as a negative form of government, as it often suppresses the voice of the majority and favors the interests of the wealthy elite.

Modern-day examples of oligarchy include Russia, where a small group of wealthy and powerful individuals hold immense political and economic power; and the United States, where the influence of big money in politics has led to concerns about wealthy individuals and corporations having excessive power.
