What is ombos?

Ombos (also known as Nubt) is an archeological site in Upper Egypt, approximately 30 km north of Aswan. It was a commercial center in ancient times due to its strategic location on the Nile River and its proximity to important trade routes. The site is most well-known for its dual temples, one dedicated to Sobek (the crocodile god) and the other to Horus (the falcon god). The temples were built during the Ptolemaic and Roman eras, but there is evidence of earlier buildings on the same site. Many artifacts have been discovered at Ombos, including pottery, statues, and reliefs. Today, the site is open to visitors and is a popular destination for those interested in ancient Egyptian history and architecture.
