What is owusu-ankomah?

Owusu-Ankomah is a contemporary Ghanaian artist born on February 15, 1956, in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana. He is known for his use of symbols and patterns from his native culture and his exploration of themes related to African spirituality and cosmology. Owusu-Ankomah is a self-taught artist who began his career in the early 1980s, and his works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world. He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2018 for his contributions to the development of contemporary art in Ghana and beyond. Owusu-Ankomah currently lives and works in Accra, Ghana.
