What is oxyphenisatine?

Oxyphenisatine is an antitussive medication used to treat coughs. It works by suppressing the cough reflex in the brain. Oxyphenisatine is usually taken as a pill orally and is usually prescribed to be taken two to three times as needed per day. It is not recommended for use in children under the age of six. The drug can cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision and nausea. In some individuals, oxyphenisatine may lead to addiction or dependence. It is important to only take medication as prescribed and to avoid exceeding the recommended dosage.
