What is pak.43?

The Pak 43 (Panzerabwehrkanone 43) was a German anti-tank gun developed during World War II. It was one of the most powerful anti-tank guns used by the German Wehrmacht, with a caliber of 88mm.

The Pak 43 was designed to be more mobile than previous anti-tank guns, with a split-trail carriage that allowed for easier transport and deployment. It had a range of over 2,000 meters and could penetrate up to 200mm of armor at a range of 2,000 meters.

The Pak 43 was used in both towed and self-propelled versions, with the towed version being used in static defensive positions while the self-propelled version was mounted on various tank chassis such as the Tiger II and Jagdpanther.

The Pak 43 was highly effective against Allied armor, particularly the heavily armored American tanks like the M4 Sherman and British tanks like the Churchill. It remained in service until the end of the war in 1945.
