What is pd?

PD or Parkinson's Disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement. It is caused by the loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brain. The symptoms of PD usually appear gradually and include tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement, and difficulty with balance and coordination. Other non-motor symptoms may include depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and cognitive changes. There is no cure for PD, but treatment options include medication, surgery, and lifestyle changes. Parkinson's disease affects approximately 1 million people in the United States and millions more worldwide. It is most commonly diagnosed in individuals over the age of 60, but can also affect younger people.
