What is pitajaya?

Pitahaya, also known as dragon fruit, is a tropical fruit that belongs to the cactus family. It is native to Central America but is now grown in many tropical and subtropical regions around the world.

Pitahaya comes in two main varieties: the red-fleshed variety, which has a sweet and mildly tangy flavor, and the white-fleshed variety, which is sweeter and more subtle in taste.

The fruit is popular for its vibrant pink or white skin with green scales, which make it visually appealing. The flesh of the fruit is dotted with tiny black seeds that are edible and add a nice crunchy texture to the fruit.

Pitahaya is a good source of antioxidants, fiber, and various vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, iron, and magnesium. It is also low in calories and has been linked to various health benefits, including improved gut health and reduced risk of chronic diseases.

Pitahaya can be eaten on its own or added to fruit salads, smoothies, desserts, and savory dishes. It can also be juiced or blended into a refreshing drink.
