What is polietireno?

Polietireno, also known as polystyrene, is a synthetic polymer made from the monomer styrene. It is a thermoplastic material that is commonly used in products such as packaging foam, disposable cups, plates, and cutlery, insulation, and CD cases. Polystyrene is known for its lightweight, rigid, and durable properties, as well as its ability to be easily molded and shaped. However, it is also known for being environmentally harmful due to its slow biodegradation and ability to leach hazardous chemicals if not disposed of properly. Efforts are being made to find more sustainable alternatives to polystyrene.
