What is polydispersities?

Polydispersities refers to the distribution of particle sizes or molecular weights in a sample. In a polydisperse system, particles or molecules are not of the same size or weight, resulting in a range of different sizes/weights. This is in contrast to a monodisperse system, where all particles or molecules are of the same size or weight. The degree of polydispersity can be quantified using various measures such as polydispersity index (PDI), dispersity index (Đ), or coefficient of variation (CV). Polydispersity can affect the properties and behavior of materials in various applications, such as in nanotechnology, colloid science, and polymer chemistry.
