What is primosiston?

Primosiston is a combined hormonal contraceptive pill that contains the active ingredients norethisterone acetate and ethinylestradiol. It is commonly used to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation, thickening cervical mucus to prevent sperm from reaching an egg, and thinning the lining of the uterus to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg.

Primosiston is also used to regulate menstrual cycles, relieve symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and treat conditions such as endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). It is typically taken orally once a day for 21 days, followed by a 7-day break before starting a new pack.

Like all contraceptive pills, Primosiston may cause side effects such as nausea, headaches, breast tenderness, and changes in menstrual bleeding. It may also increase the risk of blood clots, stroke, and heart attack in some women, especially if they smoke or have certain medical conditions.

It is important to talk to a healthcare provider before starting Primosiston to determine if it is the right contraceptive option for you and to discuss any potential risks or benefits. Additionally, regular check-ups and monitoring may be needed while taking this medication.
